Two New Makeup Brands To Try

When it comes to makeup, I love trying out new products but I typically tend to stick to brands I’m familiar with. However, there’s been two makeup brands I’ve been trying out (and loving!) recently so I thought I’d share my favourites with you.

NIP + FAB

I’ve always been a fan of NIP + FAB skincare products, so when I heard that they were planning to release a makeup range, I was really excited to try them out. Admittedly I was a little skeptical, but when I was kindly sent some of their range to test, even just on first impressions I was totally sold. As someone who has super pale skin, one thing that I know I’ll be using time and time again is their Foundation White Mixer* which I’ve been using on those summer foundations that are just a little too dark for me. Another base product that has become one of my daily routine must-haves is their Colour Corrector in Peppermint* which I use to cancel out any redness in my skin. I struggle with sensitive skin, so when my face flares up I often struggle to cover how red it is, but this concealer has absolutely saved me. A little goes a long way (trust me when I resembled Shrek the first time I used it) and worn under foundation keeps my skin looking a lot more neutral.

And finally, another of their products which has really stood out to me are their face palettes – one for Contour* and another for Highlight*. As I’ve already mentioned, I have super pale skin, so when I noticed that the contour palette I had been sent was the darkest available, I had my doubts. And, honestly, it is too dark for me to use for contouring – but for eyeshadow and bronzing, I absolutely love it. The shadows are super pigmented and blend out beautifully, I’m particularly enjoying using them to warm up any eye colours I’m wearing. And I’ll definitely be picking up the Contour Palette in the lightest shade when I’m next in town! The Highlight palette too is something I’d also recommend, as it isn’t overly glittery and adds a really lovely glow. Unfortunately a few of their highlight shades are a little dark for me (unlike the Contour palettes, there is only one shade of Highlight palette) but with three shades in which are perfect for my complexion, I know I’ll be using them all summer.

Rituel de Fille

A brand that up until a few weeks ago I’d never heard of, is Ritual de Fille that’s available via Cult Beauty. A little more high-end price wise than what I normally choose (because poor student over here) when I was asked if I’d like to try out some of their products, I jumped at the chance. Having not heard anything on any other blogs about the brand, I wasn’t sure what to expect, however I’ve been pleasantly surprised. When it comes to blush, in the warmer months I typically find myself reaching more for cream blushes. Now the shade I use isn’t the more summery of shades (it’s actually something a little wintery) but their Rituel de Fille Inner Glow Crème Pigment* in Desire adds a lovely mauve flush to the cheeks that I’m really enjoying wearing on those no-makeup, makeup days. And paired with the Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizer* in Ghost Light, which leaves a duochrome sort of sheen highlight, it’s a total match made in base heaven. Typically going for a daytime makeup look with a lot of glow for the Spring, as well as lots of highlighter, I’ve been reaching for a shimmery eyeshadow to brighten up my eye and the Rituel de Fille Ash and Ember Eye Soot* has been perfect for the job. I’ve never really used loose pigments before (mainly because I’m the clumsiest person ever when it comes to spilling things) but the shade Sigil is the prettiest warm champagne colour that is one of those perfect one wash wonders.

I definitely get into using the same brands I know and trust when it comes to make up. It’s always nice to change it up though, I’ll have a look for Nip+Fab next time in town, I had no idea they do make up now as well
