North East: A Trip to Mövenpick at Intu Metrocentre*

It’s no secret that I have a total sweet tooth, so when the lovely team over at Mövenpick contacted me recently asking if I’d like to visit their new Ice-Cream Boutique (and the first in the UK) at Intu Metrocentre, I didn’t even have to think about it. I mean, who’s gonna say no to testing all of the ice-cream?! Talk about a dreamy Friday afternoon!

Using only hand-sourced ingredients from around the world (in store there’s a map on the wall actually showing you where they’re all from!), Mövenpick are a Swiss ice-cream company featuring the finest of flavours. With neither artificial colours nor additives, their ice-cream is simply delicious with plenty of different types to choose from – no matter what your tastebuds fancy.

After meeting the team, I was blindfolded (yep, really) and challenged to which of their ingredients I could pick out, with everything from berries, to chocolate, and to spices too. After much giggling, I think I found in a secret talent as I managed to guess all of them correctly (..that or I just know my food too well)! Once we’d finished with that, I was then asked if I’d like to sample a few of their flavours – White Chocolate, Maple Walnut, Creme Brule and Vanilla Brownie – which I can safely say were all incredible. I think the phrase ‘oh my god’ was used more than once!

Chatting about flavours, the team then picked out the sundae which they thought best suited my tastebuds, and I was presented with the Cherry Bakewell – with scoops of vanilla and pistachio ice-cream, as well as fresh morello cherries. Now I’ll admit it’s not usually the flavours I’d typically pick (I’m a girl of habit and tend to go for plain chocolate), however, I absolutely loved it and would happily pick it again.

Something I really liked about the boutique was how easy it is to customise your own ice-cream, with such an array of different flavours, cones and toppings making it super simple to make your perfect combination. Or if you’re not a fan of ice-cream, they do have many different dessert options – their cakes looked incredible! I even had a go at scooping my own sundae, and whilst I think I’ll need some practice getting a perfectly round scoop, it was a lot of fun! And with their luxury interiors, we’re talking copper light fittings here guys (think of those Instagrams!), it’s certainly going to be somewhere I visit when I’m at Intu Metrocentre as a mid-shopping break.

In fact, just editing these photos and writing up this post has me craving another – I wonder what type I’ll go for next. I’m pretty tempted to work my way through the menu, and with so many amazing flavours, it would be wrong to, right?

So, what would be the flavours on your dream ice-cream sundae?

This post is in collaboration with Mövenpick but all thoughts and photographs are my own!

OMG So jealous that looks amazing I’ve only ever had Movenpick ice cream when I’ve been on holiday – I’m definitely going to be paying a visit when I get a chance xx
