This week, I was kindly invited along to Oh You Pretty Things, a champagne bar situated in the middle of Intu Metrocentre to try out their Festive Afternoon Tea. I must walk past the bar at least once a week, but I’ve never actually visited before, so I of course jumped at the chance – plus, I thought it would be a lovely early Christmas treat for my mam. Who can say no to free cocktails (well, mocktails in our case) and cake? Now festive foods aren’t normally my favourite, but with everything from a selection of mini sandwiches and scones, to mince pies and macarons, I was totally spoilt for choice. Accompained with a glass of prosecco (because it’s Christmas, duh) and then followed up with a Raspberry Fizz (think a Raspberry Mojito without the alcohol) it all went down an absolute treat – so much so, we ended up bringing some of it home for seconds! I’ll certainly be visiting again in the new year, I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to visit. It makes the best mid-shopping break!
Getting into the festive spirit, I thought I’d dress up a little with the help of some Party Wear from New Look. As someone who doesn’t go for your typical party wear (lace and fancy dresses tend to terrify me!) I thought I’d go for something a little different, and I’m super happy with my choices. This season I’m really enjoying culottes, and in particular these plisse ones which are absolutely perfect for this time of year (they’re elasticated waists too for that Christmas food too – score!). I had planned to wear them with a pair of pointed block heels, but I actually ended up stupidly hurt my leg the day before shooting these photographs (I walked into a dishwasher and it’s currently bandaged up… yes really) so I decided to go for these crushed velvet over-the-knee boots that I picked up TK Maxx a few weeks ago. I wasn’t sure how they’d pair, but I love the contrast in fabrics! Plus it ties in nicely with the velvet bardot top I was also wearing. To balance things out, I chose to go for this faux-fur cropped jacket that I was kindly gifted from Coast. A few weeks ago now, I went along to the grand opening of their new-concept store in Intu Metrocentre where I was allowed to pick a piece of clothing of my choice. I’d had my eye on this jacket for a little while and I absolutely love it. I can’t wait to dress it down with cropped jeans and my scruffy converse!
So what are your usual party wear essentials? Do you choose something a little more alternative like me? I’d love to know!
