My Updated Skincare Routine

Now, skincare is something that totally baffles me. Only up until the last two years ago, my whole skincare routine revolved around a cleanser and that’s about it.. awful right? And ever since, I’ve been trying to teach myself more of the basics and establish myself more of a solid daily routine. It changes, naturally, since my skin is dry and dehydrated one day, then combination to blemish-prone the other, I’m often switching around and trying new things out. I’ve introduced quite a few new products to my routine recently which I’m absolutely loving so I thought I’d share them with you!

Neal’s Yard Deliciously Ella Rose, Lime & Cucumber Facial Wash* – Neal’s Yard are one of those skincare brands I’ve been wanting to try out for ages, so when I heard that they were collaborating with Deliciously Ella, I knew I’d have to give the products a go. Definitely more of a morning skincare product, I’ve been using this facial wash for a little while now and I love how clean it leaves my skin feeling. While I’m not sure I’m 100% on the scent (I typically don’t get on with cucumber scents), it’s certainly grown on me and I’m really enjoying using this.

Neal’s Yard Deliciously Ella Rose, Lime & Cucumber Moisturiser* – The same goes for the moisturiser too, which is one of the best I’ve tested in a long time. With a super light consistency, this product sinks into the skin straight away and leaves my skin feeling fresh and soft ready for me to apply my makeup. It isn’t at all greasy and doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin which I often look for in my daytime moisturisers.

Clinique Clarifying Lotion* – Now I’ve grown up with my mam and nana always been huge advocates of Clinique and their products, but for some reason, up until recently hadn’t tried any of their skincare products. I was recently introduced to their 3-step skincare system which I have to say, I would recommend, but if there’s one stand out product – it’s this clarifying lotion/toner. I suffer with incredibly sensitive skin, so products that feel quite stripping or smell strong are often total no-gos for me, but this product has totally changed my skincare routine. I’ll often apply a little to a cotton pad after cleansing my face, morning and night, and it’ll leaves my skin feeling totally clean and grime-free. I was worried it would dry out my skin, but it hasn’t at all and I’m really beginning to notice a difference with those pesky under-the-skin forehead bumps I normally suffer from!

Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator – A must have in my routine is an exfoliator. As I’ve already mentioned, my skin is definitely on the sensitive side so I only really use this once or twice a week but it’s something I’d be lost without now. It’s super super gentle, so doesn’t irritate my skin, but it helps to buff those flaky bits away leaving it really smooth and soft. And of course, it’s Liz Earle, so it’s amazing scent goes without saying really.

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil – When it comes to treatments, it’s definitely something I’m still branching into, but this daily facial oil has become one of my must-haves. I’ve been using it for just under a year now, and I love applying one to two drops of this all over my face every night (well, when I remember). It leaves my skin feeling super plumped in the morning, and the rosehip in it helps to reduce any spot scarring I’m suffering with – which is something that I do struggle with quite often. I can only describe the smell as being like cold tea, but you get used to it pretty quickly and the skincare benefits are totally worth it.

So it’s still definitely a work in progress, and there’s a few things my skincare routine is missing but I’m really loving these recent discoveries of mine. I’m hoping to pick up some masks next to include into my routine to use once on a week as a little pamper, especially as my skin is in serious breakout mode at the moment and it’s something my routine is certainly lacking. I’m loving the sounds of this Bliss pore purifying one (although there’s plenty of other Bliss masks to try too!) that decongests skin and brightens up skin to help prevent scarring, two things I definitely think my skin would benefit hugely from. I often struggle to find masks that aren’t clay-based (as they tend to be quite harsh on my sensitive skin) so I’m curious to see how this one works out. I’ve heard many great things about it! And I’m also on the hunt for an eye-cream right now, I’m determined to find a drugstore one this season that isn’t on the super pricey side.

What are your skincare favourites? Any you’d recommend that I try out? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

If you're struggling with breakouts a product I would recommend is the Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Purifying mask. You can get it in Superdrug for about £6 and it's amazing for drawing the rubbish out of your skin but is still gentle (I can struggle with clay masks). I then follow up with Pixi Glow Tonic and then Effaclar Duo (+) and breakouts soon clear up, but just the mask on it's own is pretty good x

I’ve done a post on the Neals Yard Duo and personally I absolutely love them! x
