My Updated Haircare Routine 2016

Having finally perfected my daily skincare routine, I thought it was about time that I got my daily haircare routine in check too. I’ve always found it quite bamboozling, and with hair that has a tendency to fall out and look really thin time to time, have tended to step away from the products which is a bit silly really. Thankfully, I’ve been introduced to some new haircare in recent months that have totally changed the way I see haircare so I thought I’d share them with you!

Marula Oil Shampoo & Conditioner* – I’m one of those lucky people who is blessed with hair that needs washing every other day (note the sarcasm) so for me, it’s crucial I find a shampoo and conditioner combination that doesn’t feel too heavy on my fine hair. I’ve recently started using the Marula Oil Shampoo and Conditioner combo on my hair every few washes, and I’ve already noticed a huge difference in how my hair both looks and feels. Washing my hair as often as I do, it can leave my hair feeling quite (very) frizzy but this combination keeps my hair much softer and manageable without it looking flat which I’m a huge fan of!

Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash* – As I’ve mentioned, my hair has a tendency to fall out (and it’s not for any medical reason I’ve checked) so for me, I try to brush my hair as little as I can get away. Thankfully my hair isn’t prone to knots, but just to ensure it’s looking its best, I like to use my Tangle Teezer in the shower to comb through my conditioner. It’s the only brush that doesn’t pull on my hair too much like a lot of others do.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil – Once my hair has been washed and towel-dried, I’ve got into the habit of applying a little oil into the ends to try and hold back any other frizz. I use hair straighteners almost every day, so I try to avoid using a hair dryer and instead let my hair dry naturally. Using just  two or so drops of hair oil, I rub it through my hands before combing it through my hair and it makes a bucket of difference in how my hair dries. Not only does it seem to dry quicker (yeah I don’t get it either) but it keeps any knots at bay and leaves it looking ready to style too.

Paul Mitchell Dry Wash* – If I’m feeling a little lazy, then chances are I’ll find myself reaching for the dry shampoo. It’s always been something I’ve disliked, that horrible gritty feeling it gives your hair, but since trying this Paul Mitchell one – I’ve been completely converted! So much so, that this is actually my second bottle of the stuff, it’s that good. I spray a little into the roots when it’s looking worse for wear, and without making my hair feel really sticky like most drugstore dry shampoos, this gives my hair a total refresh – I love it! Oh and it’s a total life saver when it comes to rescuing my fringe. Seriously.

Toni & Guy Style Spray Wax – When it comes to styling, I’ll admit I’m a bit rubbish with it. I’ll either straighten it or curl it with the straighteners and that’s about as far as I’ll go. With the weather being as unpredictable as it is, more often than not the curls in my hair will drop out as soon as I lock my front door – however, I’ve been using this spray wax and now it lasts most of the day! I’m really enjoying that whole slightly messy, slightly grungy hair with lots of volume, so a few sprays of this and some scrunching into the ends of my hair and I’m totally good to go. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling stuck like hairspray, nor does it leave it sticky, but it gives it a little extra grit which really suits my personal style right now!

So what are your favourite haircare products? I’m always looking out for new ones to try!

Oh I like the sound of the Style Spray Wax. I've started curling my hair (well using a large barrel for waves/volume) but hairspray tends to make my hair feel a little crispy and dry on the ends and they still tend to drop. So I might give that one a try. A good tip for using dry shampoo is to spray it in before you go to bed x

I feel like I need that Toni and Guy spray. Although I’ve got naturally curly hair, I always like to neaten it up with curlers and set with hair spray! x
