Something I’ve been trying real hard recently with is accessorising more. And I’m not talking gloves, scarves and hats (we all know I own a lot of those), I’m meaning jewellery and those little extra touches that give an outfit that something something.
First up, is a good quality watch. I’ve never been one to wear watches, purely as I tend to forget to put them on in the mornings. However, I’ve noticed in recent months that I’ve found myself getting easily distracted to tasks because of my phone. And the reason I constantly pick up my phone? To check the time (which then turned into 15 minutes of Twitter browsing, Facebook, Instagram etc – oops!). And by wearing a watch, I’m hoping that it’ll stop that. I was recently gifted the lovely Classic St Andrews Watch from Daniel Wellington which I know is going to get lots of wear. With it’s classic rose gold hardware and brown leather strap, it’s certainly one of those pieces that won’t ever go out of style.
Jewellery-wise, I tend to keep things very simple and low-key. I’ve been really enjoying wearing midi rings, finding these a nice little addition to any outfit. Most that I own have just been picked up in the high-street store sales, as I know they don’t normally last long because losing their colour unfortunately. However, for a few pound, can you really complain? I think not. A few years ago (okay, when I was 13,
a whole 9 years ago) I used to be obsessed with necklaces, and would happily wear 3 or 4 at once. It was all about the pearls, the kitsch tea cup pendants and floral designs. Nowadays I definitely prefer a more simple design, as I find the minimalist vibe suits my personal style much more – such as this triangle pendant pictured above.
What would you say are your staple accessories?
